What we set out to do.
Limecoal Carriers' vision is to be the leading "one-stop" local and long-distance freight transport company providing an all-in-one service including transport of containers, cold trucks and tautliners across all transportation platforms within South Africa and other borders.
Our mission is to provide excellent and transparent services to clients through safe transportation of goods, a strong sense of community, and creating a high standard for professionalism in logistic solutions.
How a coal truck became three services.
Limecoal Carriers was founded in Bellville in 2001 by Sam Sieberhagen, one truck, hauling lime and coal between mines, farms and power stations.
By 2003 the trucks were also moving fruit and tautliner loads, short and long distance. In 2004 Sam's youngest son Reinhardt joined the company straight out of Stellenbosch University with a BCom Logistics, and brought reefer trucks into the fleet, first for fruit out of the Orange River area, then expanding into Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and the Northern Cape.
In 2012 Reinhardt took the MD seat. In 2015 he opened the Bulk Transport division for tautliner and flat-deck links across Southern Africa. Container haulage from Cape Town's ports has grown into the bulk of the company's daily work, but bulk and reefer remain the anchors that brought the business through every freight cycle of the last two decades.
Today Limecoal runs three services: containers, cold trucks and bulk, hauled by owner-driver subcontractors running under our flag. Same family, same office, same desk.

- Reinhardt Sieberhagen joins after a BCom Logistics at Stellenbosch. Reefer trucks added for fruit out of the Orange River.

- Reinhardt takes the MD seat. Investment in tracking and operations systems begins.

- Bulk Transport division opens, tautliner and flat-deck links across Southern Africa.

- Three services under one Bellville operations desk: containers, cold trucks and bulk. Owner-driver fleet, SecureTrac-monitored from Bellville.
Why owner-drivers.
Most of our trucks are owned by the people driving them. We supply diesel and SecureTrac tracking as a packaged deal, they get pricing they couldn't reach alone, and we get drivers with skin in the game.
A driver who owns the truck breaks down less, looks after the trailer and the cargo on it, and stays with us for years rather than weeks. We can run rates competitive with the big lines without cutting corners that get someone hurt.
It's also why our drivers are still here. The carriers who started with us in the 2000s are mostly still running our colours.
